you have to look at how big the file is, if its over 2 gigs or 2000 megs its 32 bit if it is over 3 or 3000 megs its 64bit

X86 means X32. It's the same thing. Don't believe me look it up.

x86 means "32bit", not "x32". An x32 system would be obsolete in this day and age, I'll stick with 32 or 64 bit, thank you. It's real but It's a beta meaning unless you have a key from somewhere then you've only got a month. And bj79, the file size has nothing to do with how many bits it is. Nothing. At all. Even a little bit. Please die now.

I have downloaded it to my vista machine, scanned and opened it and everything seems fine, but I haven't had a chance to test it on Windows 7 because it is still downloading. But once it is done I will post the results here. (If someone else hasn't already.)

Microsoft reckon that it will be released late 2009 but only if they feel that they've got it just right. But to be honest from what I have read Windows 7 Beta is much better than any other operating system that Microsoft has released, so it could be pretty spectacular. Hi I don't know exactly what the problem is but it is saying that the CD is not bootable. This version of Windows 7 Beta is about 2.5 gigabytes. A CD can only hold 700 megabytes. So if you used overburn then it is probably compressed so it won't be able to read the boot file, or, it only burned as many files as would fit. Or of course it could be that it is actually a DVD but it only knows how to say CD, in which case it probably became corrupted, so burn another DVD-R single layer 4.7 gigabyte disc on the slowest setting that you can and try again.

Ya, that is kind of sad that there are over 10,000 people seeding/downloading this, but I can only connect to 30 of them. If you guys want to avoid **** ing up your computer, get VMWare Workstation. I'm sure you could find a torrent for it somewhere. It lets you virtually use any OS, and I know it works with Windows 7. So, you won't even have to burn it to a DVD to install it. must say that windows 7 looks like Microsoft has put some thoughts to it and some mint features but it dont beat mac os x

this is the same as the official microsoft download. just go and get a key from MS's website. that will keep you updated till Aug. 1. product keys will be given out till feb. 10. this is the only OS on my system right now. that's how stable it is...if you're already running vista, you'll have no problems with this.

Its saying that error because you have an existing OS. Go restart your computer to command prompt and type the following:

Beware, because this will erase all the data in your computer. But by doing so, your BIOS will recognize Windows 7's setup and will allow you to continue. =)

i had the same problem so do what I've done cuz it worked! so what u got to do is burn the iso file onto a dvd and leave in the drive, then just start the installation from the iso file. so whats gonna happen is: the computer will install windows of the iso file till it needs to restart and after that it will continue the installation of the dvd! (the installation will take a while)

It is very fast and compatible with my pc, dual core 1.8 Ghz E2160.
I am using Gigabyte motherboard.

You guys can burn the ISO file with nero im using nero 7 also no you need to burn the CD to install it unless you user VMware to Emulate the OS tho you will need more CPU and RAM then the Minimum Requirements just like all emulators they take up more resources then the thing they are emulating.

Also its a good habit to check the Hash of the file to make sure it downloaded right tho more torrent programs check it part by part as they download it. Just to make sure I used SHA-512 Hash to check it after the file downloaded. And if you dont have any apps to check the hash here is a real good one that I use everyday http://www.ghacks.net/2008/11/27/hash-tab-s **** -extension/ all ya gota do is right click on the file you wana check then click file hashes.

You guys, you are making this whole activation key thing overly difficult than what it actually is. Believe it or not, Microsoft is GIVING AWAY activation keys. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/beta-download.aspx, select the bit version, then you're all set to go. You don't need cracks or keygens loaded with viruses and trojans. It is unfortunate that Microsoft stopped downloads as of Feburary 10th.

just download and install the "daemon tools" software. it will open in the startup. from there just browse the ISO file of windows 7, click OK...
Now u'll see that a virtual drive with windows 7 there, will appear. U can install ur windows rite frm there.

people this windows is just aewsome. 7 works perfectly fine is is very stable at even the beta stage and it also installs all the drivers quickly. just update it and bam all the drivers are up to date. yes it will support any software that runs with vista as the platform does not change. it is a tweaked version of vista if microsoft had something like vista service pack 2 then it would be as good as windows 7.

Finally, they've released a hotfix for the TDI BSOD!
