tried to run it on vista 32x bit.
after installing DAEMONtools my pc crushed everytime i booted and hadto formate everything :X

hi folks, im having some troubles with this, ive seen on other threads that a few people are. the first time i ran it the edios intro came on then it crashed, and it hasnt worked since, just a black screen, no music no nothing. i have installed the true motion 2 video codec and that didnt help. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, BTW i have windows vista, i turned DEP off for ff7.exe the config and cd check exe's but that hasnt helped neither

Not a fake. Although I understand why some people think that at first.

Mount the INSTALL DISC img. file in Daemon tools, inside that you will find another img. file along with 3 other files. Copy and Paste THAT img. file to your desktop, and then mount it in daemon tools.

Then you should be able to run the install.

The only problem I had after that was that the intro vid kept playing. Press X if that happens to you, its the enter key for the game.

I've been playing up to the SeeD exam without problems so far. REAL!

ok maybe is not fake but why they put so troble to install a game? the best to do is get other torrente and download other final fantazy 8!

Just download a Playstation emulator from www.emulatorzone.com and get the FF8 Rom from some random rom site or even from Torrentz.com (If it exists, i'm too lazy to check). Its best to just run an emulator for Playstation games.

As to whether to this is real or not, I have no idea, but i'm not taking any chances of downloading it. Emulator or this Torrent, your choice.

ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS SIMPLY THIS:

1. simply open the torrent after finished downloading.

2. double click the zip folder (( FF8 all 5 cd + Goodies ))

3. then the winzip window will pop up with 6 more zip files

-ff8 disc 1.rar
-ff8 disc 2.rar
-ff8 disc 3.rar
-ff8 disc 4.rar
-ff8 install cd.rar
-goodies.rar

4. Now double click ff8 disc1.rar and give it a moment to open .. then drag this file to your desktop : Final Fantasy 8 CD1.img .. then double click ff8 disc 2.rar and drag Final Fantasy 8 CD2.img to the desktop and do the same thing for disk 3 and 4.

5. Now, rename all four disk that you dragged to your desktop : Final Fantasy 8 CD1.img , rename that DISK1 , NOT! DISK1.img , RENAME IT DISK1 and the second cd DISK2, and so on.

6. Now, double click FF8 Install CD.rar .. should take a moment .. Now, open Daemon Tools Pro .. Then Drag Final Fantasy 8 Install CD.img to the daemon tools pro WINDOW and it should be extracting and will take a moment .. you should already have a virtual drive at the bottom of the daemon tools pro window .. RIGHT click Final Fantasy 8 Install CD.img and click the option MOUNT. after you mount it you should get another window which you only need 1 of 4 files that are there. You should see the file named FF8_install.img .. drag that onto the daemon tools pro window. This part may be a bit tricky but listen closely. MAKE SURE THE OTHER FILE (( Final Fantasy 8 Install CD.img )) IS STILL MOUNTED. you will need 2 virtual drives, u should already have more than 2 i believe but if you dont then figure out how to creat another virtual drive cause i dont know what version of daemon tools your using. ok the 1st virtual drive should be mounted with (( Final Fantasy 8 Install CD.img )) as i just mentioned and the second virtual drive you should MOUNT

IT WITH (( FF8_INSTALL )) after you mount it, the regular install window should pop up and you wanna click INSTALL , OBviuosly lol.

7. alright step 7 haha, now after the games installed, double click the ff8 game icon on the desktop and start the game, when the credits come up that look like ending credits, just press X on your keyboard and you should be transferred to the main menu, select new game, then the insert cd thing will pop up. You wont be able to alt-Tab out of the game or select the windows key on the keyboard. You have to ctrl-Alt-Delete to get to the desktop. then exit task manager. Now, UN-MOUNT the 2 files that are mounted in daemon tools pro. Now, drag the File you renamed DISK1 to the virtual drive. A window should pop up, just exit out of it. This part a bit tricky so pay attention. The virtual drive that you mounted DISK1 is gonna be either E: or F: or a different letter, BUTTT whatever the virtual drive name is, remember it.

8. Go to START, then click RUN, then type in the box REGEDIT then click ok. There should be some different folders to choose from to open but open this one : HKEY_LOCAL_MACINE , there should be a plus sign next to it actually > +HKEY_LOCAL_MACINE < click the plus sign. Now, click the plsu sign next to the SOFTWARE folder. Now, find the SQUARE SOFT, INC folder and click the plus sign next to it, then the plus sign next to FINAL FANTASY VIII, then lick the 1.00 folder. Now, under NAMES find the DATA DRIVE. right click DATA DRIVE and click MODIFY. now change drive D: which is what it should be as a default, to the virtual drives drive name EXAMPLE: E: .. now click ok. exit out of the registry editor.

9. Heres the fun part lol, Now, click the game again and you should return to the insert disk window, just press X on your key board, and the game should start =DDDDDDD ENJOY MII **** ZZ HAHA TORRENTZ FO LIFE BIOTCH!!

10. you thought we were done ****

mount the DISK1 and then mount DISK2 and press X again, and same for disk 3 and 4. Im on DISK2 and havnt had any problems so far, great game. AND also!, run the game in software mode by going to the other Icon you got when installing the game FF8 CONFIG. Now, go to the GRAPHICS tab and click the arrow under RENDERER and select SOFTWARE RENDERER. then select ok. Works Great!! Did exactly what Xilus said (most of which should be common sense if you download games) and have had no problems! It certainly aint a virus!
It's just poorly packed and comes with no instructions for noobs.

Need help, every time i mount disk1 then go to regedit then change the value data to whatever letter the .img is mounted on when i got back to the game and press X, the game just crash. anyhelp on this?
